Shirley Abrahamson's prescient remarks video-1996

Twenty years ago, WI Supreme Court Justice Shirley Abrahamson spoke in Washington D.C. about the need for effective communication among the legislature, the executive, and the judicial branch.

Wisconsin's chief also spoke enthusiastically about the success of "Justice on Wheels", a program that mobilizes and connects judges to local communities in Wisconsin. She was confident, witty, and decisive.

A panel of her peers, mostly fellow justices, listened intently to her remarks. Abrahamson's top legal position, uniquely situated, brought a fresh perspective to the panel-one that was appreciated, well respected, and most certainly deserved.

Near the end of her remarks, Justice Abrahamson used the phrase  "the quiet before the storm"  as reference to a Supreme Court about to erupt.
